Sweater Season

Good Afternoon Everyone! Today, I have my first Autumn inspired manicure to show you! I decided to go full out with Autumnal colours and patterns for some bold but warming nail art :) Take a look; Some of my favourite cold-weather clothing items are my soft, plaid flannel shirts. So of course I just had to do some plaid nail art! In order to break up the pattern a bit, I added in a couple of striped accent nails but using the same overall colour palette for unity. I began by painting most of my nails with Butter London 'Brick Lane' which is the perfect Autumn nail polish. It's a burnt orange creme with subtly gold shimmer. On my accent nails (middle and pinkie), I used Barry M 'Lychee' , a light, creamy nude. Then I painted on the base stripes/lines using a striping brush and the following nail polishes; Barry M 'Mango' (bright orange creme), Butter London 'East End' (matte mustard yellow) and Barry M 'Chai' (dove grey crem...

Inspiration: Cozy Autumn

Happy Sunday!! I've been looking forward to creating Autumn inspired manicures since the start of September! I can't wait to wear warm, cozy jumpers and indulge my love of all things plaid :) Ah, I love Autumn! I don't usually go for orange, red and yellow tones so it'll be fun to step outside my comfort zone a bit. Now, to plan some new nail art... Thanks for reading! Kayleigh :)

Fields On Fields

Hello There! It's been a while since I last posted, unfortunately life just seems to get in the way sometimes! Today, I've got my final Summer inspired manicure to show you. I hadn't painted my nails for so long that I was starting to get withdrawal! It felt really good to just get down and create something :) I wanted to try out a colour-block manicure using striping tape as I've never done one before. I planned it all out beforehand so that I wouldn't end up a sticky, angry mess and I'm happy to say it worked! I started by painting all my nails in Barry M 'Kiwi' which is a lovely bright jade green (less blue toned than in these photos) and a one-coater! It has a really great formula; buttery and smooth. Using striping tape and OPI 'Jade Is The New Black' (dark fir green), I painted in large blocks of colour on each nail. I then did the same with Barry M 'Key Lime' (lime green) before adding a thin layer of topcoat. ...

An English Summer

Good Afternoon! For a while now, I've been wanting to try out a landscape manicure, where the image stretches across each nail, forming a picture. Some of my absolute favourite nail artists ( Very Emily & Wondrously Polished for example) are absolute geniuses at this and I think its such a creative and fun way to do nail art. So I took a deep breath and gave it a go! I had the general idea of how I wanted it to look in my head, so I did a quick sketch on paper before I started painting. First, I painted all my nails with Revlon Parfumerie 'Surf Spray' , a dusky sheer blue with strong aqua shimmer. Most of the time this is a bright turquoise but at certain angles there's a hint of the purpley blue base colour. Absolutely mesmerising! And it smells like holidays! Once that was fully dry, I mapped out the whole image using OPI 'Jade Is The New Black' (muted fir green) and a small detail brush. I then lightened the green with a touch of Essie ...

Forever Green

Afternoon People! It may be officially Summer here but buckets of water are still falling from the skies :( Typical Britain. I think we may have already had our one and only heatwave back in March.... Anyway, today I've got my first 'Green' manicure to show you guys. This one is a kind of an abstract interpretation of countryside fields and hedges. I kept it nice and loose so it was really fun to paint :) I started off by painting all my nails with China Glaze 'Highlight Of My Summer' which is a neon pastel apple green. WOW this is bright! Would look awesome as a pedicure with tanned skin on holiday :) Once this was fully dry, I created a rough, painterly gradient using the following nail polishes (cuticle to tips); China Glaze 'Highlight Of My Summer' , Zoya 'Midori' (apple green with strong gold shimmer), Barry M 'Spring Green' (grass green) and Rimmel 'Camouflage' (conifer green with pale gold shimmer). To loosen...

Inspiration: Rolling Hills

Hello There! One of the best things about living in the British countryside is how green it all is. It completely changes the mood of the landscape and makes me so happy. So in order to celebrate that kaleidoscope of greens and lush vegetation, I've decided to create some awesomely green nail art! In the past, I've created manicures that were dominated by one colour (Pink) but I haven't done Green before so that will make things interesting! Sometimes it's good to narrow down the subject as it tends to make room for more creativity (I hope!)  :) Thanks For Reading! Kayleigh :)
