Peony Love

Hey There! One thing that you may have noticed about my nail art is that I love a floral manicure! They're a bit of a challenge but not too difficult and enjoyable to wear. So today's nail art is inspired by one of my favourite flowers; the Peony :) As this was going to be another rather pink manicure, I decided to use differently textured nail polishes to break it up a bit! So I started by painting all my nails in Barry M 'Socialite' , a really gorgeous bright, hot pink glitter filled jelly, with small holo hex glitter and blue/purple shimmer. In these photos, you can see how strongly my camera is picking up that beautiful shimmer! In person, the overall colour is much more pink. Using a small detail brush and Rimmel 'Strawberry Fizz' (sweet pink), I blocked in the flower shapes on each nail. I find it easier to paint at this stage if I thin the nail polish slightly with Orly Nail Polish Thinner :) I then used China Glaze 'Exotic Encounters...

Blossom Skies

Hello Everyone! The manicure that I'm showing you today is probably one of my most favourite pieces of nail art that I've done in quite a while! I loved wearing it and was pretty sad when it started to chip off :( One of the thing's that I most look forward to in Spring is the flowering of the Cherry blossom. Especially on a sunny day with blue skies, when the soft breezes carry swathes of delicate, pastel pink petals across the landscape. So pretty :) I started my blossom inspired manicure by painting all my nails in Barry M  'Mist' , from their Silk collection. This is a gorgeous shimmery matte pastel blue nail polish which changes tone slightly at different angles. Such a subtle but interesting polish! (It's a little bit more aqua leaning than these photos show though.) I first painted on the cherry blossom branches using Essie 'It's Genius' (russet brown with gold shimmer) and a small detail brush. I wanted a more painterly loo...

Round And Round

Hello There! For today's Pink inspired manicure, I decided to go a bit pattern crazy :) As I was only using one colour, I could afford to pile on the prints without the manicure becoming a complete failure (hopefully). I think I managed it! So much pink!! I started this crazy manicure with China Glaze 'Hang-Ten Toes' on all my nails. It's a searing neon pink with pink micro-shimmer and dries matte. Such a happy colour :) Once this was completely dry, I painted on the first pattern layer. I diluted Barry M 'Pomegranate' (dark pink) and Revlon Parfumerie 'African Tea Rose' (pink with fuchsia shimmer) with Orly Nail Polish Thinner until they were of a watercolour consistency. Then I used a small detail brush to paint on rough circle shapes all over each nail, using both colours. I ended up absolutely loving the effect, so will probably include it in future manicures! I then used a Barry M Nail Art Pen in 'Pink' to draw ...

Inspiration: Think Pink

Good Afternoon :) Every year, as Spring approaches, I start to become completely enamored with the colour pink. It could be due to the imminent swathes of cherry blossom or the aftermath of Valentine's Day. I really have no idea. All I know is that I rather like it! Apparently I'm really into circular pink things at the moment.... ha! I'm also trying out a new layout of images, I think this is a bit more friendly to the eye :) Thanks for reading! Kayleigh :)

Pastel Winter

Hello People! So far, this Winter has been pretty mild with a distinct lack of ice and snow. Much to my disappointment :( Some of the most beautiful days at this time of year are those with crisp, sunny weather and frosty, iced landscapes! So to console myself, I decided to do a snowflake inspired manicure :) First, I painted all my nails with Barry M 'Chai' , a medium grey creme from their Gelly range. My god, this nail polish is stunning. Practically a one coater, smooth formula and SO shiny. I love it. On my accent nails, I added layers of Kleancolor 'I Do, Romeo' (matte white hex glitter) and Black Cat Lacquer 'Let Them Eat Cake' (small pastel silk hex glitter) until I was happy with the coverage. I wasn't in the mood to paint anything really detailed so I went for a more painterly/abstract look! I used a thin striping brush to paint on some random snowflakes in the following colours; Barry M 'Mist' (matte/silk pastel blue), ...

The Last Night

Evening People! In my last post, I showed you my Christmas nail art. Well today, I've got my New Year's manicure for you! I'm not really that big on New Year celebrations so I wanted to keep my nail art casual but still celebratory :) I decided to do confetti inspired nail art over a glitter creme base. So I started the manicure by painting all my nails in Lacquerhead Polish 'What Happened Last Night' (mainly for the name, ha!). This is a white creme with small cobalt blue and light purple hex and square glitters. There are some lilac stars mixed in too but you can't really see them as the base covers them up :( Once this was dry, I painted on a coat of Essie 'Good To Go' to smooth over some of the stars. Then, using a small dotting tool and Jessica 'Kensington Rose' (pearlescent pink), I started to add clusters of dots to each nail. I carried on adding to these clusters (using the same dotting tools) with  Barry M 'Silver...

Old But New

A Good Evening To You! A very belated post I'm afraid but I wanted to show you my Christmas Day manicure :) I've always loved the look of vintage ornaments as they remind me of my Grandma and happy Christmas holidays spent up north. So I decided to paint some pastel, super sparkly ornaments on each of my nails! First, I painted all of my nails with Rimmel 'Your Majesty' , a beautiful one-coat silver metallic nail polish. This polish surprised me with a fantastic formula and literally no chipping! Pretty great for a cheaper brand :) For the ornaments, I first painted the overall shape of each ornament with my favourite striping brush and Essie 'Blanc' , an opaque white creme. Once this was dry, I added colour and detail using the following nail polishes; Zoya 'Rory' (rose pink with fine silver shimmer), Barry M 'Mist' (pastel blue pearl matte), Revlon Parfumerie  'Beachy' (gold/brass metallic) and Rimmel 'Pear Drop...
